Spiritual Direction
Spiritual
Direction at Oblate Renewal Center Ongoing
spiritual direction is available for retreat groups or individuals.
Retreat directors provide both listening and support while helping
the individual notice and respond to the movement of God as experienced
in prayer and everyday life--helping each to look honestly at his
or her relationship to God. spiritual direction enables participants
in retreats to encounter a new sense of wholeness.
You
may have noticed that spiritual direction is an important part
of our program here at Oblate Renewal Center. Do you know
why?
We
believe that it is very helpful for most people to have someone
to help them on their faith journeys as they grow closer to God.
What
happens when someone comes to spiritual direction?
The
director helps the person notice and respond to the movement of
God as experienced in prayer and in the events of ordinary life.
What
does the director do?
The
director acts as a listening, supportive person who creates an
atmosphere where one can look honestly at his or her relationship
with God as it is lived out in everyday life.
How
often do people see their spiritual director?
Frequency
of visits varies with the person and with the happenings of one’s
life at a particular time. Some people come once a week,
others every two weeks, some every month or even less often.
How
does one go about finding a spiritual director through Oblate
Renewal Center?
If
you would like assistance from Oblate Renewal Center, we ask
that you call or e-mail the Center. A staff person will
then arrange an interview with you.
Does
spiritual direction have a cost associated with it?
We
have a policy not to charge for spiritual direction. However,
since the Center needs to compensate the directors, donations
to the Center are gratefully appreciated. Most people make
an offering of $15 - $40 per session.

with God isn't a matter of intellect; it’s a matter of the
heart.”
