Academic Information

Oblate School of Theology is licensed by the State of Texas and listed by the Department of Education as an accredited institution of higher learning. The school is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, GA 30033-4097, telephone 404-679-4500) and the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada (10 Summit Park Drive, Pittsburgh, PA, 15275, telephone 412-788-6506) to award masters degrees and the Doctor of Ministry degree.

The learned and experienced faculty strives to offer the best formation possible in the Catholic tradition. Teaching, learning and ministry are the center of our life at OST. The entire history of the school has been one of preparing pastoral ministers for the Church. Our early graduates travelled on horseback to far flung missions around the Southwest United States and Mexico. Today, that same missionary spirit inspires faculty and students alike.

Academic study at Oblate is always connected to pastoral ministry. Field experience, theological reflection, and classroom learning work together in most degree plans. The O’Shaughnessy Library offers resources from around the world for study and research.
