BYBLOS Certificate of Enrichment in Sacred Scripture

The goal of the program is to provide students with the opportunity to explore key components of the biblical Canon. Spiritual directors, Christian counselors, Directors of Religious Education, Ministers on Sabbatical, teachers, and others would benefit from enrolling.

Upon completion the student will be able to:

• Demonstrate familiarity with key components of the biblical Canon

• Engage in the prayerful study of Scripture or Lectio Divina.

• Candidates must complete a total of 18 hours for enrichment in Scriptural studies. No credit hours completed in other schools may be transferred.

• Candidates must complete:

  • 1 hour for enrichment of core courses. This provides the necessary historical background to understand the Canon and to fully benefit from other courses.

  • 2 hours for enrichment of Scripture Practicum. Students are required to complete 2 hours/CEUs for enrichment of supervised Lectio Divina.

  • 15 hours for enrichment of elective courses. Students are required to take 15 hours of elective courses for enrichment in Scripture.

• The program can be completed online, in person, or some combination of both ways. Full attendance and participation are required.

Courses taken for enrichment cannot be transferred into other programs at Oblate School of Theology.
