Experience

Fr. Szymanowski is a priest of the Congregation of the Resurrection (Resurrectionists). He completed his studies in Poland and Italy. His international ministry experience spans Poland, Austria, Italy, and Canada, where he has served in parish ministry, taught at the high school level, and worked in religious formation at both the pre‑novitiate and novitiate levels.

Research

Fr. Szymanowski’s research specializes in civic ethics, with particular attention to patristic sources, especially St. Augustine. His work examines the nature of Christian civic identity and considers various frameworks for understanding its normative dimensions. The fruit of this research is his book, A Christian Ethics of Citizenship: The Augustinian Necessitas Caritatis (Nomos & Aschendorff Verlag, 2025), in which he investigates and recontextualizes St. Augustine’s civic thought, proposing a framework for a Christian ethics of citizenship today. While social ethics remains his principal focus, he is also interested in topics at the intersection of faith and technology, including Christian transhumanism.
