Louis G. Vance Lecture in Systematic Theology
Supported by the Louis G. Vance Endowment, the Vance Lecture advances the study of Systematic Theology—the exploration of Christian belief and doctrine and how the truths of faith relate to one another and to the world in which we live. The endowment supports both the lecture and scholarly work in Systematic Theology at OST. Over the years, the series has welcomed distinguished theologians from across the globe. We are grateful to the Vance family for their enduring generosity and commitment to theological scholarship at Oblate School of Theology.
Kusenberger Chair of Oblate Studies Lecture
Established in January 2017 to mark the conclusion of the 200th anniversary celebration of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate, the Kusenberger Chair of Oblate Studies is the first chair of its kind dedicated to the study and sharing of Oblate history, charism, spirituality, and mission. The annual Kusenberger Chair of Oblate Studies Lecture brings scholars and members of the Oblate community into conversation around the enduring legacy of St. Eugene de Mazenod and the continuing expression of the Oblate charism in the Church and world today.
Aquinas Lecture
Hosted by the Dominican Friars of San Antonio, the Aquinas Lecture honors the intellectual and theological legacy of St. Thomas Aquinas and the Dominican tradition of study, preaching, and the pursuit of truth. Featuring scholars who engage Aquinas's thought and its continuing relevance, the series explores the relationship between faith and reason through topics in theology, philosophy, ethics, metaphysics, and contemporary life.
Escobedo Lecture
Made possible through the generosity of Ruben M. Escobedo and Veronica Salazar Escobedo, both Honorary Oblates of Mary Immaculate, the Escobedo Lecture fostered theological reflection and dialogue in Spanish at Oblate School of Theology. Over the years, the series brought scholars, pastoral leaders, and the wider community together to explore significant questions of theology, ministry, Church, and society. The final Escobedo Lecture was presented in 2025. OST gratefully honors the generosity of the Escobedo family and the lasting contribution this series made to the theological and pastoral life of our community.
