SAN ANTONIO, TX, Oct. 10, 2024 – Oblate School of Theology (OST) celebrates the president installation of Very Rev. Louis Studer, O.M.I., Ph.D., on Friday, October 18 at the Immaculate Conception Chapel located on the OST campus. Fr. Studer commenced his role as the new president of OST on July 1, 2024 following the appointment and approval from the OST Board of Trustees and the U.S. Oblate Provincial Council.

Celebrating over 50 years since taking his first vows as an Oblate, Fr. Studer has served in numerous leadership positions including Principal at St. Henry’s Seminary in Belleville, Illinois, chaplain at the University of Minnesota, Vicar Provincial of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate United States Province (OMIUSA), and more recently, Provincial of OMIUSA. His commitment as a humble and devout leader is attributed to the wisdom, experience, and spiritual nourishment he has gained through mission and concern for the poor.

Carrying forward the 122-year tradition and esteemed reputation of OST, Fr. Studer eagerly awaits the opportunities and collaboration efforts that will continue to build the institution as a respected school of skilled professional learning, pastoral leadership enrichment, and cultural advancement.

“I am honored to help carry forward this privileged position as leader of this ministry,” Fr. Studer said. “Honored also because the professors, administration, students, and staff continue to contribute richly and wisely to educating for the mission.”

The installation ceremony is led and facilitated by Very Rev. Raymond Cook, O.M.I., D.Min., Chair of the Board of Trustees and Provincial of OMIUSA; Dr. Scott Woodward, D.Min., former President of Oblate School of Theology; and Sr. Susan Pontz, SS.C.M., Ed.D., Vice President for Academic Affairs and Academic Dean.
