The Master of Divinity with a chaplaincy concentration prepares students for professional ministry in healthcare, correctional, military, campus, corporate, and community-based settings. This degree integrates rigorous theological study, comprehensive ministerial formation, and specialized training in spiritual care to equip graduates to serve as certified, compassionate, competent, and theologically grounded chaplains. The program embodies the Oblate commitment to evangelization, accompaniment, and service among the most vulnerable.
La Maestría en Ministerio Pastoral es un programa de grado profesional “que brinda educación para la misión y el ministerio de la iglesia en el mundo”. (Declaración de propósito de OST, párrafo #1 en el catálogo escolar.) El programa de Ministerio Pastoral brinda a los estudiantes las bases necesarias para servir como asociados pastorales, coordinadores de liturgia, ministros de formación en la fe, ministros de jóvenes y otras áreas de cuidado pastoral.
The program is intended for experienced ministers with a Master of Divinity degree or its equivalent, or an MA in a ministry-related area, who are ready to take their practice of ministry to the next level. The program is taken on an intensive basis. Students choose to study in one of the following concentrations: Spirituality and Ministry, Spiritual Formation in the Local Community, U.S. Hispanic/Latino Ministry, African American Pastoral Leadership, or Pastoral Leadership.
The Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministry is a professional degree program which provides education for the church’s mission and ministry in the world. The Pastoral Ministry program gives students the foundation needed to serve as pastoral associates, liturgy coordinators, faith formation ministers, youth ministers, and other areas of pastoral care.
The Master of Arts degree in Theology provides a professionally enriching experience in theological research in the context of Oblate School of Theology’s attention to evangelization and ministry in multicultural, collaborative, and ecumenically conscious environments. The degree is primarily an academic degree to prepare students for research at the doctoral level or for teaching at the secondary or college levels.
The Master of Arts in Spirituality provides students with a comprehensive and critical understanding of the Christian spiritual tradition, with a view towards addressing the spiritual needs and concerns of contemporary faith communities. Students develop fluency in diverse classical, historic, and contemporary expressions of Christian spirituality, as well as examine the relationship between spirituality and areas of practical concern, including social justice and advocacy, pastoral and public leadership, intercultural ministry, and spiritual care. Graduates of the program serve as leaders and valuable resources in a variety of settings: renewal and retreat centers, churches and ecclesial ministries, counseling and social work, chaplaincy, as well as spirituality-related faith formation and educational programs.
The Master of Arts in Sacred Scripture degree program provides a comprehensive and in-depth exploration of the biblical Canon. Students will be exposed to the full range of biblical books and to a diversity of exegetical approaches, both ancient and contemporary.
